In Commercial Break teams take on the role of an advertising agency and finesse their teamwork skills as they produce an engaging Commercial. Each team is given the subject and theme of a commercial to create and the equipment, including props and a tablet or camera to produce it. Teams start planning, discussing ideas and writing a script. They sketch an outline of the commercial on a storyboard, find props, choose filming locations, select music and decide on roles and responsibilities. Teams film each scene in sequence, adapting their plan to the realities of filming.
Successful teams interpret the brief and transfer their creative concepts into reality within the constraints of time and resources. Creative thinking, communicating ideas and listening to each other is essential in developing an engaging storyline. As no editing is allowed, thorough planning and sequential filming are imperative. Everyone has a part to play, whether scriptwriter, director, camera operator or actor and the coordination of these roles demand skilful teamwork. Finally, during filming, when things don't go as expected, leadership, agile thinking and focus on a common goal will enable the team to deliver a great Commercial within the allotted time.
